  • Message from the UNIFIL Mission: United Nations Security Council unanimously renews UNIFIL mandate until August 2018
    31 Aug 2017 - The United Nations Security Council yesterday voted unanimously to renew UNIFIL’s mandate under Security Council resolution 1701, expressing a strong commitment to the existing mandate.  UNIFIL will continue to work to fulfill the mandate to its fullest in order to preserve the stability and calm in its area of operations in south Lebanon, which has already lasted for an unprecedented 11 years.

    UNIFIL’s Maritime Task Force conducts joint exercise with LAF Navy
    23 Aug 2017 - As part of its ongoing support to the Lebanese Armed Forces Navy (LAF-N), UNIFIL’s Maritime Task Force (MTF) today conducted a joint training with LAF Navy personnel off the coast of Beirut Port.  The demanding two-hour boarding exercise – involving the UNIFIL flagship “UNIÃO” (Brazil), helicopters and patrol boats – helps to further the full operational capability of the LAF Navy as well as enhance UNIFIL-MTF’s inter-operational capability with the Navy.

    Lebanon’s Justice Minister visits UNIFIL headquarters
    30 Jun 2017 - The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Lebanon, Salim Jreissati, paid a visit to the UNIFIL Headquarters and the UN Mission’s area of operations (AO) in south Lebanon today. UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Michael Beary accompanied the Minister and his 12-member delegation, comprising senior Judges and Ministry officials, from Beirut to UNIFIL’s Sector East Headquarters in Marjayoun and then to the Mission Headquarters in Naqoura.
