UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Michael Beary today paid his first visit to the newly appointed Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), General Joseph Aoun, in Beirut.
Today, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) marked the 39th anniversary of its establishment with a ceremony at its Headquarters in Naqoura highlighting the Mission’s commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for the local population in southern Lebanon.
The clear sky, the sunshine and the gentle breeze indicated that spring was arriving to the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The ebb and flow of the gentle sea waves in the country’s commercial hub, the Beirut Port, made the ambiance even more soothing.
The Minister of Defense of Lebanon, Yaacoub Sarraf, today visited the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in Naqoura, south Lebanon, and met with the UNIFIL Head of Mission of Force Commander, Major General Michael Beary.
The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) official in charge of the activities on civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) visited UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura Tuesday to discuss with the UNIFIL leadership the areas of enhanced cooperation in south Lebanon.
UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti touched on Wednesday on the situation in the area around the southern town of Meis al-Jabal and what UNIFIL is doing in relation to the surveillance camera installed by the Israeli Army in a disputed area east of the town.
