In coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) today deployed a detachment of multinational force to Beirut in order to assist Lebanese authorities with their efforts to deal with the aftermath of the tragic 4 August explosions.
UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col today chaired a special Tripartite meeting with senior officers from the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) at a UN position in Ras Al Naqoura.
As part of the ongoing UNIFIL support to host communities in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mission’s peacekeepers from China donated yesterday medical supplies to the local communities of Al Qulaylah and Zibqin in south-western Lebanon.
UNIFIL Sector West peacekeepers have helped upgrade a municipal milk processing and storage facility in Aytarun, in the Bint Jbeil district of south-western Lebanon, with the donation of a new processing plant and other machinery last week.
“On Tuesday, 25 August starting around 11:00 p.m., UNIFIL observed a number of flares fired from several IDF positions along the Blue Line across from Aytarun, Ayta Ash-Sha’b, Meiss Ej Jebel, Houla, Kfar Kila and Kfar Shouba in south Lebanon.
