03 Oct 2017 - The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) today held a ceremony to commemorate the International Day of Peace at its headquarters in Naqoura. Peacekeepers representing the 41 national contingents in UNIFIL were joined at the event by representatives of the local authorities, religious leaders, Lebanese armed and security forces and members of the international community. -

31 Aug 2017 - The United Nations Security Council yesterday voted unanimously to renew UNIFIL’s mandate under Security Council resolution 1701, expressing a strong commitment to the existing mandate. UNIFIL will continue to work to fulfill the mandate to its fullest in order to preserve the stability and calm in its area of operations in south Lebanon, which has already lasted for an unprecedented 11 years.

23 Aug 2017 - As part of its ongoing support to the Lebanese Armed Forces Navy (LAF-N), UNIFIL’s Maritime Task Force (MTF) today conducted a joint training with LAF Navy personnel off the coast of Beirut Port. The demanding two-hour boarding exercise – involving the UNIFIL flagship “UNIÃO” (Brazil), helicopters and patrol boats – helps to further the full operational capability of the LAF Navy as well as enhance UNIFIL-MTF’s inter-operational capability with the Navy. -
