UNIFIL Spanish contingent today hold a memorial ceremony in honour of 1st Corporal Francisco Javier Soria Toledo, a UNIFIL peacekeeper who lost his life in the line of duty in southern Lebanon, on 28 January 2015.

The ceremony was attended by UNIFIL Sector East Commander, Brigadier-General Aroldo Lázaro Saenz and the Consul of the Kingdom of Spain, Mr Antonio Guillén Hidalgo.

More than 300 military and civilian peacekeepers have lost their lives while serving the cause of peace in southern Lebanon since UNIFIL establishment in 1978.
