Last week, UNIFIL peacekeepers supported the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) in extracting and removing two unexploded ordnances (UXOs) in the town of Al Aadeisse in south-eastern Lebanon.

These operations enhance the security of residents and also represent direct and tangible support for the Lebanese population. The neutralization of UXOs is essential to restoring normalcy in affected communities and is a fundamental step in enabling displaced persons to return safely to their homes.

Since the cessation of hostilities understanding of November 2024, UNIFIL peacekeepers have discovered more than 400 UXOs in their area of operations in South Lebanon and they were all referred to the Lebanese Army.

UNIFIL remains steadfast in its commitment to security and stability in south Lebanon, with continued collaboration with the LAF to achieve a lasting peace and sustainable recovery of the areas affected by the last conflict.
