Street market to promote local economy

UNIFIL organized on Sunday a traditional street market in the UN Mission’s Sector East Headquarters in Marjayoun, where local businesspersons and traders set up a variety of stalls. The aim of the event was to promote local businesses and economy.

A total of 30 stalls – including various garment products, electronics and other accessories – were set up by local businessmen and traders from the nearby villages and towns. In addition, there were two restaurants serving Lebanese cuisines to the UNIFIL military and civilian personnel.

UNIFIL’s Sector East Commander Brigadier General Venancio Aguado de Diego said that the aim was to enhance the relations between the local people and UNIFIL, and to give a boost to local economic activities.
