UNIFIL Indonesian contingent recently equipped its hospital in the south-eastern Lebanese village of Adchit Al-Qusayr with a dental care unit that caters to the local population as well as fellow peacekeepers.

The new unit, opened on 10 February 2021, helps ameliorate medical needs of the host population especially because of the remoteness of the area where access to healthcare is limited. The problem is more acute during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The beneficiaries will not only include inhabitants of Adchit Al-Qusayr but also from the neighbouring villages of Et Taibe and Deir Siriane.

The new dental unit in the main base of the UNIFIL Indonesian Battalion is the continuation of similar efforts by the Mission and its peacekeepers, in support of host communities in south Lebanon.

With some 1,250 peacekeepers currently serving with UNIFIL, Indonesia is the largest troop contributor to the Mission furthering peace and stability in south Lebanon.
