  • Lebanese communities continue to receive UNIFIL support to contain COVID-19 spread

    UNIFIL continued today with its ongoing efforts to assist the host population in our common fight against COVID-19 Coronavirus by donating several equipment to state institutions and local communities in south-eastern Lebanon.
    The donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other supplies necessary for the containment of the virus, in support to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health in Marjayoun, will benefit 13 villages and 10 state institutions.
  • UNIFIL donation to Naqoura Municipality to fight COVID-19
    31 Mar 2020 - UNIFIL today handed over a number of equipment and other accessories to the Naqoura Municipality, which hosts the UN Mission’s Headquarters in south Lebanon. This donation is part of UNIFIL’s broader effort to assist the local population and communities in the common fight against the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.  
  • UNIFIL marks 42nd anniversary of its establishment

    UNIFIL today marked the 42nd anniversary of its establishment in 1978 amidst a modest ceremony in the Mission headquarters in Naqoura, south Lebanon. 
     
    UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col chaired the ceremony, which saw a limited attendance as a precaution for preventing the spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus, which has become a global pandemic.
     
  • ASG Khiari concludes assessment mission to Lebanon
    06 Mar 2020 - A nine-member UN delegation led by Assistant Secretary-General Khaled Khiari today concluded a weeklong visit to Lebanon and the UNIFIL area of operations, as part of an assessment of UNIFIL’s resources. During the visit, ASG Khiari was accompanied by UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col.

    UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col today chaired a Tripartite meeting with senior officers from the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) at the UN position in Ras Al Naqoura.
     
    Discussions focused on the situation along the Blue Line, air and ground violations as well as other issues within the scope of UNIFIL’s mandate under UN Security Council resolution 1701.

    11 Oct 2019 - The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, today paid a visit to the UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura, south Lebanon, and toured the Mission’s area of operations in order to see first-hand the work of UNIFIL in maintaining the cessation of hostilities and calm along the Blue Line.
  • UNIFIL head unveils statue of Roman-time jurist in Tyre

    UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col yesterday joined Lebanese officials in unveiling the statue of Annius Domitius Ulpianus, in Tyre, south Lebanon, where the prominent Roman-time jurist was born around 170 AD.
