    UN Secretary-General visits UNIFIL
    21 Dec 2021 - As part of his visit to Lebanon to show the United Nations’ solidarity with the country and its people, UN Secretary-General António Guterres today visited UNIFIL Headquarters and met with peacekeepers. Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col received the UN chief and briefed him on the mission’s work in south Lebanon.

    13 Dec 2021 - UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col chaired a Tripartite meeting with senior Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officers today in Ras Al Naqoura. In his remarks, Major General Del Col reflected on developments in UNIFIL’s area of operations over the past twelve months, including serious incidents along the Blue Line, air space violations and breaches of the cessation of hostilities.

    28 May 2021 - UNIFIL today handed over one of its positions to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), its strategic partner, at a ceremony in south-western Lebanon. UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col handed over UN position “2-45A” to Brigadier General Maroun Kobayati, who represented the Lebanese Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun.

  • UNIFIL’s Maritime Task Force Command Passes to Germany
    15 Jan 2021 - Today, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) held a ceremony in Naqoura, south Lebanon, to mark the transfer of authority of its Maritime Task Force (MTF) from Brazil to Germany. Rear Admiral Sergio Renato Berna Salgueirinho from Brazil handed over the command to Rear Admiral Axel Schulz of the German Navy.
