25 Nov 2024 - UNIFIL is seriously concerned by numerous strikes on the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) inside the Lebanese territories, despite their declared non-involvement in the ongoing hostilities between Hizbullah and Israel.
22 Nov 2024 - Earlier today, two 122-mm rockets struck the Sector West Headquarters in Shama, injuring four Italian peacekeepers who are now receiving treatment at the base hospital. Fortunately, none of the injuries are life-threatening.
19 Nov 2024 - UNIFIL peacekeepers and facilities were targeted in three separate incidents in south Lebanon today, with four peacekeepers injured in one of the incidents.
Four Ghanaian peacekeepers on duty sustained injuries as a rocket – fired most likely by non-State actors within Lebanon – hit their base “UNP 5-42” in the east of the village of Ramyah. The peacekeepers sustained injuries and three of them have been transferred to a hospital in Tyre for treatment.
15 Nov 2024 - Shama (Lebanon), 15 November 2024 – This afternoon, a 155mm live artillery shell hit UNP 2-3, UNIFIL West Sector headquarters in Shama.
The shell did not detonate and Italian bomb disposal experts swiftly secured the area, removed the ordnance, and conducted a controlled detonation.
There was no injury among peacekeepers, but only minor damages to the gym.
15 Nov 2024 - This morning, a UNIFIL convoy headed to UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura was involved in a road accident along the coastal road, near the village of Shama.
14 Nov 2024 - This morning, a UNIFIL patrol near Qallawiyah noticed a cache of ammunition near the roadway. After informing the Lebanese Armed Forces of the discovery, peacekeepers continued on their planned route. A short while later, they got out of their vehicle to remove some debris from the roadway. When getting back into their vehicles, two or three unknown people fired approximately 30 shots in their direction.
14 Nov 2024 - Concluding a three-day visit to Lebanon, UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix underlined that Security Council resolution 1701 remains the framework to return to stability—and build on it.
07 Nov 2024 - This afternoon, a UNIFIL convoy bringing newly-arrived peacekeepers to south Lebanon was passing Saida when a drone strike occurred nearby.
Five peacekeepers were lightly injured and treated by the Lebanese Red Cross on the spot. They will continue to their posts. The Lebanese Army also confirmed three of its soldiers at the nearby checkpoint were injured.
25 Oct 2024 - On 22 October, peacekeepers on duty at a permanent observation post near Dhayra were observing IDF soldiers conducting house clearing operations nearby. Upon realizing they were being observed, the IDF soldiers fired at the post. The duty guards withdrew to avoid being shot.
28 Aug 2024 - The United Nations Security Council today unanimously adopted resolution 2749 (2024), extending the mission’s mandate until 31 August 2025.
