Joint training with LAF to mitigate chemical, radiological, nuclear threats
The Sector West Headquarters of UNIFIL organized a joint training course with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) yesterday in order to identify and mitigate the potential dangers posed by chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons.
The training was run by a group of specialized and competent instructors, who are serving as peacekeepers with UNIFIL’s Italian Battalion. The course comprised a series of theoretical and practical sessions on identifying the risks, adopting necessary security measures, and improving operational and tactical capabilities.
This UNIFIL training is one of several conducted jointly with the LAF, in accordance with the Security Council resolution 1701, which forms the core of UNIFIL’s mandate. A crucial element of the mandate is to support and strengthen the capabilities of the LAF in south Lebanon.
