In this episode, UNIFIL Deputy Spokesperson Kandice Ardiel highlights ongoing efforts to support local communities. We also cover recent initiatives by Spanish, Italian, and Indian peacekeepers, including infrastructure repairs, cultural activities, and medical services.
The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is a peacekeeping mission in south Lebanon. It was established by the Security Council in 1978 with Resolutions 425 and 426. In 2006, the Security Council strengthened UNIFIL’s mandate to monitor the cessation of hostilities, among other tasks.
