<p>Recently&nbsp;the Lebanese Armed Forces new “Model Regiment” Headquarters was inaugurated in Srebbine, south Lebanon. The project funded by the European Union will house the basic components of the Model Regiment, a new infantry regiment to be deployed alongside UNIFIL in the mission’s area of operations.</p>

United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon

The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is a peacekeeping mission in south Lebanon. It was established by the Security Council in 1978 with Resolutions 425 and 426. In 2006, the Security Council strengthened UNIFIL’s mandate to monitor the cessation of hostilities, among other tasks.
