<p>Recently UNIFIL handed over one of its positions, near the village of At Tiri, to the Lebanese Armed Forces. This will help support LAF in its deployment in the south, which is crucial to maintaining peace and stability in the region.</p>

United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon

The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is a peacekeeping mission in south Lebanon. It was established by the Security Council in 1978 with Resolutions 425 and 426. In 2006, the Security Council strengthened UNIFIL’s mandate to monitor the cessation of hostilities, among other tasks.
