UNIFIL and LAF in joint training

UNIFIL Sector East conducted a series of joint training courses with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) to enhance military cooperation and operational capabilities of both forces.

Explosive dog training, detecting and identifying different types of explosive devices, mines, unexploded ordnances and ammunition, and patrolling in urban areas were among some of the topics covered during the training programme that ran during the month of October 2021.

The training was divided into practical and theoretical sessions, and the purpose of both was to enhance mutual understanding, interoperability and capability between LAF and UNIFIL.

Coordinated trainings and exercises between UNIFIL and LAF lie at the core of the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1701 - therefore, the core of UNIFIL’s mandate.
