UNIFIL welcomes a recent Lebanese Military Court verdict that has brought another individual guilty of an attack on peacekeepers to justice.
Today, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a Lebanese shepherd to UNIFIL at the Ras Naqoura crossing. The shepherd had been apprehended on Tuesday, January 12 in the Bastara area near the Blue Line in south Lebanon.

In line with UNIFIL’s efforts to assist the host population in our common fight against COVID-19 Coronavirus in south Lebanon, UNIFIL troop contributing countries have been taking initiatives aimed at providing communities with medical equipment and other supplies available at our disposal.
In the wake of the serious incident along the Blue Line on 1 September that occurred amidst mounting tension following developments outside the UNIFIL area of operations, UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major-General Stefano Del Col today called on Prime Minister Saad Hariri in Beirut.
At about 5:00 p.m. today UNIFIL was informed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) that an anti-tank missile had been fired from the vicinity of Marun Ar Ras in southern Lebanon at an IDF vehicle in the Avivim area, south of the Blue Line.
