After the winter rains south Lebanon looks lush in March. Farmers are already harvesting leafy vegetables from their fields, bright flowers are everywhere and green grass carpets the rocky hills. It feels hard to believe that in a few months water scarcity will become an issue.

UNIFIL’s Nepalese Battalion organized the visit of young children from a local public school in Houla, in south-eastern Lebanon, to its base in Meis Ej Jebel last week.

Today, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) marked the 39th anniversary of its establishment with a ceremony at its Headquarters in Naqoura highlighting the Mission’s commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for the local population in southern Lebanon.
