LED street light project, co-funded by municipality and UNIFIL, inaugurated in Blida

On 14 July 2017, UNIFIL’s Sector East Nepalese Battalion (NEPBATT) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Sanjaya Deuja inaugurated the “LED Street Light” project in the village of Blida.

Distinguished guests from the area including Municipality Mayor, Municipality officials, Lebanese Armed Forces representatives, police personnel, other local authorities and UNIFIL peacekeepers attended the ceremony.

The Mayor of Blida expressed his gratitude for the project and appreciated the mutual understanding and collaboration between UNIFIL personnel and the local population.

In his speech, Lieutenant Colonel Deuja underlined the excellent ties between the local residents and UNIFIL. He added that by implementing similar projects, UNIFIL intend to address some of the most pressing needs of the local population and supports the local authorities.

Under the “LED Street Light” project, co-funded by the municipality and UNIFIL, 140 LED lamps were installed by UNIFIL and the municipality who contributed to this project by providing required cabling, accessories and personnel to install the lamps.

The project directly benefits the inhabitants of the village by addressing the problem of inadequate street lights.
