Indonesian Battalion inaugurates project supporting civil defense centre
UNIFIL Indonesian Battalion today inaugurated the project “Support to Civil Defense Centre” in the village of Frun in south-eastern Lebanon.
With the completion of the project, completed with the UNIFIL funding of $15,200, the local civil defense centre now has a number of emergency equipment and gear, including fire extinguishers, diesel-operated water sprayers, fireproof ranger boots, emergency kits and radio units. The UNIFIL support enhances the Civil Defence Centre’s ability in handling emergencies.
The project directly benefits the local population of Frun as well as those in the village of Jabal Amel.
Also present at the inauguration were local authorities, community leaders and representatives of the Lebanese Armed Forces. The Mayor of Frun, Muhamad Hamdun, appreciated the mutual understanding and collaboration between UNIFIL and the local population in the area and south Lebanon.
