UNIFIL Media Activity Notification Procedure

To enhance the safety of media personnel operating in UNIFIL’s Area of Operations, the Strategic Communications and Public Information Office maintains a notification mechanism through our Liaison Branch. This procedure ensures that both the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are informed whenever journalists move in sensitive areas.

Journalists planning field visits are requested to provide the following details in this format 24 hours before the movement:

  • WHAT: Purpose of the visit (e.g., interviews, filming, photography)
  • WHO: Full names of the journalists and the media outlet
  • VEHICLE DETAILS: Make, model, colour, and license plate number
  • WHEN: Date and time of the planned activity
  • WHERE: Villages/localities to be visited
  • ROUTE: Planned access route to the area

To support the verification process, journalists are also kindly requested to share:

  • A photo of the vehicle clearly showing the license plate, and
  • The GPS location of their intended destination.

This information is used strictly for coordination purposes. Journalists must have the proper permissions from the Ministry of Information and the Lebanese Armed Forces.

Interested journalists/outlets may send their details via WhatsApp or email to:
