UNIFIL deplores the passing today of Corporal Rico Pramudia, who was critically injured following a projectile explosion in his base in Adchit Al Qusayr on the night of 29 March.
Corporal Pramudia, 31, tragically succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Beirut.
UNIFIL extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Corporal Pramudia as well as the Indonesian Army and the Government and people of the Republic of Indonesia for this tragic and irreparable loss.
We demand from all actors that they uphold their obligations under international law and ensure the safety and security of UN personnel and property at all times. Deliberate attacks on peacekeepers are grave violations of international humanitarian law and of Security Council resolution 1701, and may amount to war crimes.
