As part of UNIFIL’s support to people affected by the latest escalation of violence, peacekeepers are constantly supporting humanitarian relief for local communities still present along the Blue Line.

In the past week, 20 peacekeepers donated blood to help treat patients affected by the violence. The donation was made by peacekeepers deployed to the mission’s Sector East headquarters, in response to a request from Marjayoun Public Hospital, which is facing a shortage of blood supplies.

In both UNIFIL’s Sector East and Sector West, peacekeepers have been facilitating the safe movement of several dozen civilians – including women, children, and elderly people – from Al Qantarah and Dibil towards areas north of the Litani River.

Across UNIFIL’s wider area of operations in south Lebanon, the mission continues to facilitate humanitarian access in support of those affected by the ongoing hostilities. The mission also continues to support the humanitarian activities of the Lebanese Red Cross, while peacekeepers remain in position and continuously adapt their operational tasks to fulfil the mandate under Resolution 1701, despite the dangers and risks.
