Young students from Beirut visit UNFIL’s Sector East HQ

A group of schoolchildren from Beirut visited UNIFIL’s Sector East Headquarters in Ibl al-Saqi last week to learn about the work of UN peacekeepers in furthering peace in south Lebanon.

During their visit to the UNIFIL base on 13 June, the young students – accompanied by their teachers – from Sacred Heart School in Beirut checked out UNIFIL vehicles and interacted with the peacekeepers.

The students, totaling 60, learned the important work done by UNIFIL’s some 10,400 peacekeepers from 43 countries, in cooperation with the Lebanese Armed Forces, in maintaining peace and stability in south Lebanon.

Between peacekeeping duties, UNIFIL troops regularly carry out various small-scale activities with the host communities in order to maintain and enhance their excellent relations, which is key to maintaining the calm in their area of operations.
