UNIFIL Sector East conducted a two-week long firefighting training with the Lebanese Civil Defense Centres in south Lebanon.

The joint activity was attended by 77 volunteers from Civil Defence Centres of Marjayoun, El Khiam, Rachaya Al Foukhar, Shab’a, Meiss Ej Jebel, Kleyaa and Frun.

The training covered tactics, techniques and procedures to fight uncontrolled fires in preparation of the upcoming summer period.

Such activities are in line with the UN Security Council resolution 1701 that mandates UNIFIL to contribute to the development of Lebanese authorities’ capacities and assist the local population.
