Sector East peacekeepers conduct casualty and medical evacuations exercise

Dozens of UNIFIL peacekeepers operating under the command of Spanish-led Sector East Headquarters participated this week in an exercise in order to practice procedures and assess reactions during casualty and medical evacuations.

The multi-national exercise, conducted on 13 February in an Indonesian UNIFIL position near Adshit al-Qassir in south-eastern Lebanon, saw the participation of all units under the Sector East command. A total of 80 women and men in uniform participated.

The Lebanese Armed Forces offered necessary assistance, ensuring the smooth conduct of the exercise codenamed “Eastern Angel.”

During the exercise, participating UNIFIL peacekeepers strictly complied with the Mission’s standard operating procedures on casualty and medical evacuations.
