As the exchanges of fire affecting south Lebanon run into the fifth month forcing thousands to flee to safety, UNIFIL peacekeepers have been assisting the people remaining in their villages with their most pressing needs.

UNIFIL’s Spanish contingent, operating in south-eastern Lebanon, has ramped up support to local communities as the ongoing fire across the Blue Line has forced thousands to flee to safety.

UNIFIL’s French peacekeepers from the Mission’s Force Commander’s Reserve (FCR) donated civil defense firefighters in the south-western village of Alma al-Sha’b, near the Blue Line, with firefighting and security gear last week.
