UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major-General Luciano Portolano today paid a courtesy call to the Vice President of the Islamic Shiite Highest Council Sheik Abed Al Amiir Kaabalaan in his office in Beirut.

UNIFIL commemorated the annual Open Day on Women, Peace and Security on Monday December 1 with a presentation by the Women's Working Group of Southern Lebanon on ways to encourage women's involvement in the peace-building process.

UNIFIL's Belgian battalion (Belubatt) completed a four-month training program at the Amlieh Orphan Care Association in Tibnin, as one of their final community initiatives in south Lebanon.

The training program covered basic computer skills as well as lessons in hygiene and first-aid.
