UNIFIL peacekeepers across southern Lebanon have been conducting numerous medical and educational support initiatives in aid of local communities in their pursuit of rebuilding lives following the recent conflict.

UNIFIL and the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday, renewing the UN peacekeeping mission’s support for humanitarian and operational demining in the UNIFIL area of operations in south Lebanon.

As UNIFIL today completed 47 years of its establishment, its head and Force Commander, Lieutenant General Aroldo Lázaro, called for looking forward with hope following the recent devastating conflict.
