Asked by the National News Agency (NNA) about his reaction to the bomb attack in the Rouweiss neighbourhood of Beirut yesterday, UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major-General Paolo Serra condemned in the strongest terms “the criminal targeting of innocent civilians”.

“I take very serious note of the reported incident near Labouneh during the night of 6-7 August. On receiving the report I immediately ordered a UNIFIL investigation into the incident.

On August 1st, 2013, UNIFIL's Turkish Battalion held an Iftar banquet at its Battalion headquarters in Sha'aytiyeh in the presence of heads of municipalities, dignitaries of the area, other UNIFIL contingents, and the local population.
