(Joint Press Release - LAF and UNIFIL)The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) yesterday conducted a combined live firing exercise in southern Lebanon.
"We have seen reports in the media suggesting that UNIFIL should be deployed along the Lebanese border with Syria. UNIFIL's deployment and functions have been mandated by the UN Security Council with the specific consent of the Government of Lebanon.
They played games and picked up a few tips. That's how about 500 Lebanese school children marked World Water Day in southern Lebanon.
The United Nations Security Council, on the request of Lebanon, yesterday unanimously adopted resolution 2064 (2012), extending without any changes the mandate of the United Nations Interim Mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL) for one year, until 31 August 2013.
