Lebanon’s female security personnel receive training on self-defense

UNIFIL’s Sector East Headquarters organized a training on self-defense to female members of the Lebanese security agencies at its base near Marjayoun, south-eastern Lebanon, last week.

Female security personnel from Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces (ISF) and the State Security (SS) attended the five-day course from 4 to 8 March 2019. The training primarily focused on different theoretical and practical lessons on self-defense.

A closing ceremony, chaired by Sector Commander Brigadier General Antonio Romero Losada, was organized at the Sector Headquarters at Base Miguel de Cervantes on 8 March, also coinciding with International Women’s Day.

In his remarks, Brig. Gen. Losada congratulated all the participants for the successful completion of the training and expressed hope that the training will build stronger relationships and better coordination among ISF, SS and UNIFIL.

Last week’s training is the continuation of various joint trainings UNIFIL peacekeepers regularly conduct with Lebanese security forces, which enhance the extension of State authority within UNIFIL’s area of operation in south Lebanon.
