Joint training for UNIFIL and LAF troops on ‘Military Decision Making Process’

UNIFIL’s Sector East Headquarters organized last week a five-day joint training on “Military Decision Making Process” for 19 officers and warrant officers from the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and various UNIFIL units operating in south-eastern Lebanon.

During the training from 6 to 10 March, the participants received practical sessions and lectures, besides sharing knowledge and experiences related to their duties, responsibilities and actions including reconnaissance patrols, convoy operations, warning orders and patrol planning.

The LAF is UNIFIL’s strategic partner and the two carry out a number of joint activities every day in UNIFIL’s area of operations in south Lebanon. However, the two forces use different operational procedures.

In order to support and assist LAF as stated in the UN Security Council Resolution 1701, a coordinated training package has been developed to improve the level of interoperability for coordinated tasks and achieve mutual confidence, in the framework of the Resolution.
