UNIFIL's commitment to peace and community support
UNIFIL Spanish peacekeepers have stepped up to help local communities in south Lebanon, even as tensions escalate. On October 11, they made two significant donations to the towns of Qlayaa and Ebel El Saqi, providing supplies like wood stoves, clothing, hygiene products, and medicines to support the most vulnerable and the people who couldn’t move to safer areas.
The donations were received by local leaders at the UN base. Father Pierre Rahi from Qlayaa’s Maronite church and Kamal Monzer, head of the dispensary in Ebel El Saqi, expressed their deep appreciation for UNIFIL’s ongoing efforts during these tough times.
Despite the challenges, UNIFIL peacekeepers are still working closely with local communities to facilitate the provision of humanitarian assistance to those who need it. We will keep supporting the people – and standing for peace – for as long as it takes.
