UNIFIL-supported wall paintings inaugurated in Chaqra

UNIFIL’s Nepalese Battalion (NEPBATT) Commander and the Mayor of Chaqra inaugurated a series of wall paintings by local students in the south-eastern Lebanese village earlier this week.

The paintings depicting Lebanese cultural arts and the country’s natural heritages were the artwork of 20 students, supported by Nepalese peacekeepers and their parents from 17 to 25 April. A local NGO called “ITHAR” implemented the programme in coordination with the Chaqra Municipality.

The main aim of the wall painting was to explore the imagination of the students.

NEPBATT Commander Lt. Col. Sanjay Deuja and Mayor Ali Saleh jointly inaugurated the paintings amidst a ceremony on Tuesday.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Mayor Saleh thanked UNIFIL and NEPBATT for supporting the creative activity by involving local students.
