We are aware of reports that a Lebanese civilian was killed along the Blue Line near Kafer Kila today during a confrontation with the Israel Defense Forces. UNIFIL’s Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Del Col is in direct contact with the parties to prevent further escalation.

Our troops are on the ground to prevent violations and together with the Lebanese Armed Forces we have enhanced security in the area.

UNIFIL immediately launched an investigation to determine the facts and circumstances.

Any loss of life is tragic, and we urge everyone to remain calm and avoid further escalating the situation and risking more lives.
