UNIFIL-LAF joint training on VIP protection

UNIFIL’s Sector East (SECEAST) Command organized a 5-day joint training earlier this month on VIP protection at a UN position in Marjayoun.

In the training, UNIFIL peacekeepers were joined by 27 Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) soldiers. The training, focused on different theoretical and practical aspects of the protection and safeguarding of VIPs based on professional skills and varied experience of the trainers.

In his comments at the concluding ceremony on 7 April, Deputy Commander of UNIFIL-SECEAST Colonel Pribadi Jatamko said that the training was a good platform to exchange experiences and procedures among the participants. He added that the training will foster stronger relationship and better coordination between LAF and UNIFIL troops.

LAF is the strategic partner of UNIFIL. UNIFIL’s activities are carried out in close cooperation and coordination with the Lebanese Army in accordance with the UN Security Council resolution 1701.
