UNIFIL Force Commander Major-General Paolo Serra today called on Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Defence Minister Mr. Fayez Ghosn.

Issues related to the implementation of UNIFIL's mandate under UN Security Council resolution 1701 were discussed, with particular focus on cooperation between UNIFIL and the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).

During the visit Major-General Serra emphasized the mission's strong relations with the people of south Lebanon and also reiterated that UNIFIL remains focused on its mandated tasks under UN Security Council resolution 1701, together with the Lebanese Armed Forces.
