UNIFIL French Contingent donates new air compressor for the firefighters in Tyre

UNIFIL’s French contingent attached with the Force Commander’s Reserve (FCR), represented by its Commander, Colonel Nicolas Durand, today donated a number of items to the Regional Center of Lebanese Civil Defense of Tyre.

The project, implemented by FCR’s Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) unit, consists of an air compressor specifically designed to refill air tanks used by firefighters in smoke contaminated situations.

With this new equipment, the firefighters will no longer be obliged to go to Beirut to refill their air tanks, thus increasing significantly their operational capacity, for the highest benefit of the local population.

The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Tyre, Hassan Dbouk, Municipality members and representatives of almost all local Civil Defense centres of the area of Tyre.
