The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) today held a ceremony at its headquarters in Naqoura to mark this year's international peacekeepers day.

When the students of Our Lady of Lebanon School in Rmeish first heard about it, "they were shocked." They "refused" being taught English by UNIFIL's Ghanaian teachers, their English language teacher, Sana Aoun, pointed out.

United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Hervé Ladsous today called on the President of Lebanon Michel Suleiman, Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Beirut.

Good morning. I have just had the privilege of seeing Prime Minister Mikati to whom I conveyed the warm wishes of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Mr.
I am very glad to have had the opportunity to meet Gen. Kahwaji. We had very useful discussions and I also met with other senior officers of the Lebanese Armed Forces.
I had an excellent meeting with the President. His strong support for UNIFIL and commitment to the implementation of resolution 1701 has been evident, among other things, by the fact that he was the first Lebanese Head of State to visit UNIFIL.
The Head of United Nations Peacekeeping Mr. Hervé Ladsous today travelled to Israel and met with key Israeli government officials and representatives of the Israel Defense Forces. Mr. Ladsous was accompanied by UNIFIL Force Commander Major-General Paolo Serra, among others.
Under Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Herve Ladsous is welcomed by a UNIFIL Nepalese peacekeeper at the start of his Blue Line tour.
As part of his five-day tour of the region, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Hervé Ladsous today toured the Line of Withdrawal (Blue Line) in UNIFIL area of operations in southern Lebanon.
