Lebanese students visit UNIFIL’s Force Commander Reserve in Deir Kifa

UNIFIL’s Force Commander Reserve (FCR) in Deir Kifa, south Lebanon, hosted at its base a group of about 60 high school students from Jounieh in the north of Beirut last week.

During the visit of the students from Collège des Apôtres, the UNIFIL peacekeepers gave a presentation on the mandate of work of UNIFIL, the Line of Withdrawal or the “Blue Line” and the role of FCR within UNIFIL.

FCR is the operational reserve at the disposal of the UNIFIL Force Commander. It is able to act in the whole area of operations (AO) and participates in air and ground surveillance within AO, including radar and anti-aircraft defenses. It also conducts training for the Lebanese Armed Forces.

During the visit last week, the students participated in activities organized by the FCR fire brigade and checked out some of the heavy vehicles.

At the end of the visit, the students received souvenirs from the FCR Commander, Colonel Loic Girard.
