Indonesian peacekeepers awarded UN medals

UNIFIL’s Indonesian peacekeepers received Unites Nations medals at a ceremony held last week in the Indonesian Battalion's main base near the village of Adchit al Qusayr in south Lebanon.

UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col, Indonesian Ambassador in Lebanon Hajriyanto Y. Tohari, UNIFIL Sector East Commander Brigadier General Rafael Colomer Martinez Del Peral and the Qaimaqam of Tyre Jafar gave out medals to the peacekeepers.

Representatives of the Lebanese Armed Forces, Government Officials, fellow UNIFIL peacekeepers and local civilians attended the 5 October ceremony.

The ceremony also saw the drum band unit of the Indonesian Contingent perform. In addition, the peacekeepers also performed Jaipong Dance, Indang Dance, War Dance, Rifles Drills and martial arts.

With more than 1,300 peacekeepers in UNIFIL, Indonesia is the largest contributor of troops to the Mission, including in its Maritime Task Force.
