Indian peacekeepers conducted anti-rabies vaccination camp at Souk Al Khan

On 08 July 2017, UNIFIL’s Indian Battalion (INDBATT) conducted anti-rabies vaccination vamp for pets (dogs and cats) at Souk Al Khan. During the event, 175 cases of canine and feline pets were vaccinated against rabies.

The camp was inaugurated by the Commanding Officer of INDBATT and the Mayor of Hasbaya, Labib Al-Hamra.

Pet owners who visited the camp for immunization of their pets, were also given separate canine and feline vaccination schedule cards to plan course of future vaccinations, in addition to “Pet Record Book” for simple and effortless maintenance of health record of respective pets. In addition to vaccinations, nutritional supplements and pet grooming products were also distributed to the owners.

Veterinary activities in UNIFIL Area of Operations have a special importance as it benefits to a mainly agricultural community and directly affects the daily life of the local population.

In the last four months, the Indian Vet team led by the veterinary officer, Lt. Colonel PP Borah, has conducted 66 vaccination camps in its area of responsibility. About 4,500 animals were treated for various ailments, 13108 animals were dewormed and 2792 animals were vaccinated.
