UNIFIL Italian Peacekeepers share pizza making with children of LAF martyrs

 

Recently UNIFIL Italian Contingent held a social day for sixty Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) martyrs’ children between the ages of 7 and 18 at the UNIFIL Italian base in the southern town of Shama. The event was also attended by local authorities and LAF officers.

The visit included educational activities as well as numerous Sporting activities such as Soccer and Volleyball. After, a brief explanation on the history of the Italian pizza, the children started dirtying their hands preparing their own pizza and bread for the lunch with the Italian peacekeepers. The young people really enjoyed the food preparation and the pizza was a success.

UNIFIL Sector West Commander Brigadier-General Arturo Nitti welcomed the children of the martyrs of the Lebanese army and stressed the close relationship that the Italian Contingent gained with the local community and the Lebanese army.

Additionally, Sector West Commander praised the importance of the daily effort of Lebanese army officers and soldiers and the close cooperation among UNIFIL units to maintain security and stability in the region.
