Spanish peacekeepers ramp up donations to local communities
UNIFIL’s Spanish contingent, operating in south-eastern Lebanon, has ramped up support to local communities as the ongoing fire across the Blue Line has forced thousands to flee to safety.
Local hospitals, security bodies, schools, charity organizations and municipalities have benefited from 19 donations by UNIFIL Spanish peacekeepers since last October. Among the items they received are food, clothes, medicine, sports gear and school supplies.
As the area has felt the impact of the current conflict since early October 2023, peacekeepers realigned their support projects to match priority needs of the communities. UNIFIL and its contingents will continue to support communities, while working to restore stability, in the immediate period ahead.
