UNIFIL Spanish peacekeepers held a memorial service last week in honour of Lance Corporal Francisco Javier Soria Toledo of the Spanish Army, who died in the line of duty five years ago while serving for peace in south-eastern Lebanon.

UNIFIL and local officials gathered last week at a public school in a south Lebanese village to mark the completion of a “peace square” built over the past five months by the Mission’s peacekeepers from China.

UNIFIL’s Italian and Finnish peacekeepers conducted a joint training last week with the aim of enhancing interoperability, reactivity and flexibility during joint operations while serving for peace in south Lebanon.
