Earlier this month, UNIFIL received an unusual visitor. Paolo Nespoli, who served in Lebanon as a young Italian soldier from 1982 to 1984 with the Multinational Peacekeeping Force in Beirut, returned to Lebanon after 35 years.

A team of medical professionals of UNIFIL’s Nepalese Battalion (NEPBATT) carried out a four-day long training on first aid with members of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and fellow peacekeepers at their main base in Meiss ej Jabal, south Lebanon, last week.

The Commander of UNIFIL’s Maritime Task Force (MTF), Rear Admiral Eduardo Augusto Wieland, hosted onboard the UNIFIL flagship a United States delegation including Ambassador Elizabeth Richard and the vice admiral of the United States Navy, James Malloy, off the coast of Beirut, last week.
