UNIFIL’s Maritime Task Force (MTF) got a new commander last week with the Mission’s head and Force Commander, Major General Stefano Del Col, overseeing the transfer of authority between two Brazilian senior naval officers onboard the UNIFIL flagship “Frigate Liberal” in the Beirut Port.

UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander, Major General Stefano Del Col, yesterday welcomed the Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, to the headquarters of UNIFIL’s Western Sector Command in Shamaa in the southern part of Lebanon.

As storms Norma and Miriam lashed Lebanon last week, piles of snow carpeted mountains. Within UNIFIL’s area of operation in south-eastern Lebanon, mountainous areas suddenly turned white. Despite icy conditions, UNIFIL peacekeepers continued their daily activities.
