Handmade items bring out Christmas spirit

The Austrian battalion hosted a Christmas exhibition of arts, crafts and homemade bread made by the children of the Mosan Centre for Children with Special Needs at the UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura.

It has been an annual tradition for the Austrians since 2011. "It's Christmas, and it's all about giving!" This sentiment was shared by several UNIFIL staff members who came buy goods and share in the Christmas spirit.

According to Ibrahim Amine, coordinator of activities at the Mosan Centre, the children here learn to make use of everything possible and turn what could normally be considered as waste into something beautiful. In the process, they have fun and learn how to create something useful.

Many UNIFIL staff members were delighted to participate in the exhibition. "I think it is a wonderful exhibition, they have very good products and it's all homemade. I want to support the children and the project," Political Affairs Officer Ingrid Koeck said.
