UNIFIL Indian peacekeepers supported the only medical facility catering to the population living in their area of responsibility in south-eastern Lebanon with essential medical supplies last week.

Following a request from the Amel Association Clinic in the village of Kfar Hammam, the UNIFIL peacekeepers on 25 January donated medicines that would address shortage gap for up to a month.

The Clinic, which currently is the only medical facility in the area, receives up to 60 patients daily from Kfar Hammam and the neighbouring villages of Kfar Shouba, Halta, Rachaya El Foukhar and El Habberiye.

Smooth supply of the medicines was essential for the local population – especially the elderly, women and children – as they are currently faced with wintry weather and renewed hostilities.

Since the hostilities affecting south Lebanon began on 8 October 2023 and following requests from host communities, UNIFIL Indian peacekeepers have provided medical assistance to 463 locals and veterinary assistance treating 62 livestock.
