The Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Major-General Paolo Serra, today chaired a regular tripartite meeting with senior officers from the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) at the UN Position at Ras Al Naqoura

Deployed since October 2006, UNIFIL's maritime task force supports the Lebanese Navy in monitoring its territorial waters, securing the Lebanese coastline and preventing the unauthorized entry of arms or related material by sea into Lebanon.

The line of withdrawal or the Blue line, as it is more commonly known, was established in the year 2000 to confirm the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon.
